In addition to the charming towns of Saxon Switzerland, we would like to give on this page, especially proposals for day trips to the surrounding area of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.

Bad Schandau

Where the Kirnitzsch flows into the river Elbe lies the beautiful Bad Schandau. Everyone who is looking for peace and relaxation will find in this idyllic place the ideal place to relax and dream. Already in 1430 first mentioned, Schandau obtained in 1920 the title "Bad" and was finally in 1936 officially recognized as Kneipp spa. Since then, the small town has developed into a spa and recreation center of great importance in Germany. Bad Schandau is not only a favorite holiday destination because of its interesting history, but also fascinates with its varied artistic, cultural and leisure activities.

Sebnitz is idyllically located in the Saxon Switzerland right on the German-Czech border. Also known as the "Silk Flower City", the town offers a variety of offers both for excursions, hikes and nature experiences, as well as for discovering crafts, tradition, history and culture. During a tour of the traditional artificial flower production "Deutsche Kunstblume Sebnitz", visitors will get to know the fascinating tradition of traditional crafts, which has been here since 1834. In the "Kräutervitalbad" (herbal vitality bath), you can relax and enjoy the peace of summer and winter. A trip to the history of the city, to Africa or to the Caucasus is recommended to globetrotters: the museum of artificial flower production, the local history museum, the "Afrikahaus" and the "Caucasusstube" can be visited in the immediate vicinity. Friends of the small railways will get their money's worth in the TILLIG model railway gallery.

Pirna - the gate to Saxon Switzerland

Pirna is known beyond the borders of Saxony, largely due to the paintings by Venetian artist Bernardo Bellotto, known as Canaletto. The town of Pirna is as rich in history as cultural and architectural history. In the old town with winding streets, you can still find places whose silhouette has been preserved for centuries, as the market square painted by Canaletto in the middle of the 18th century. Proud citizen houses impress with magnificent gables, bay windows and portals. Let yourself be invited and take a stroll through the lively Pirna past the Marienkirche, the Erlpeterbrunnen, the Canalettohaus ... and enjoy the flair of this picturesque small town.

The Semperoper, the Staatskapelle, the Philharmonic and the Kreuzchor once and today used to be the brightest in the musical life of this city. In the splendid Baroque Zwinger you will find not only paintings of famous old masters but also the largest porcelain collection in the world. We are pleased to inform you about the Green Vault, the Frauenkirche, the Residenzschloss, the 102-meter-long Fürstenzug, the well-known Pfunds-Molkerei ..., book guided tours and sightseeing tours or organize theater and concert tickets.

Highlights such as the steamship parade, the International Dixilandfestival, the Dresden Dampflokfest, the Karl May Festival, the Elbhangfest or the famous Striezelmarkt in Dresden attract thousands of visitors every year. You want to experience Dresden - no problem. In our hotel you stay away from the city jubilation, but reach in a short time the center of the metropolis on the banks of the Elbe.

A little further downstream is Meißen with its beautiful old town and the castle Albrechtsburg. Meissen became famous for the first European porcelain factory, which has been established here since 1710. Up to the present day, the decorative porcelains are made in loving craftsmanship, signed with the famous blue swords.

But Meissen is also known for its good wines. The Saxon wine-growing region is not only the northeasternest in Europe but also the smallest in Germany. Due to its mild micro climate in the Elbe valley, it produces an excellent dry wine, which is appreciated by the guests and is almost revered by the locals. Convince yourself of the good taste and enjoy a Meissner wine in our restaurant.
